I am happy (and humbled) to announce that my pastel "Wind Chill" was awarded 1st Place at the AAWA Summer Juried Exhibition at the Riverside Arts Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan. I'm seen here with Donn Angel Perez, the juror for the exhibit. Thank you Donn and the AAWA organization.
Wind Chill was inspired by a tour of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in late November 2017. The rocky beach depicted in the painting is near DeTour Village along Lake Huron. It was quite a chilly day, and snow squalls would emerge spontaneously and also drape our drive back across the Mackinac Bridge. White knuckle driving in the Michigan winter!
