The Ann Arbor-based AAWA will hold its summer exhibit at the Riverside Arts Center in Ypsilanti, Michigan, from July 5th through July 26th, 2019. The gallery is open Thursdays and Fridays 3-8 pm, and Saturdays 12-5 pm.
Two of my pastel paintings were juried into the exhibit. The first is "Meeting at Mill Pond," depicting a conversation between two birds regarding their plans to migrate south, as autumn arrives in Michigan:
The second painting is "Wind Chill." This 21x27 pastel painting has made the rounds to previous art exhibits. Wind Chill is based on a Thanksgiving Holiday trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, when my family visited Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, went waterfall hunting, and visited
DeTour Village at the southern tip of the UP, which inspired this pastel.
I hope you can make it to the show in July!
